Enrique and Seidy were looking for a DJ who could blend Hispanic music and American music well. Enrique had listened to a few of my demos online and liked what he heard, so we scheduled a meeting to discuss more details. Conveniently enough, our meeting place ended up being right down the street from Enrique’s workplace in La Mesa. During the meeting we discussed music ideas and I found out that they were really into Banda music, though they did want a percentage of Salsa, Merengue, and Cumbias as well. They also loved ‘club music’. Four days after our meeting, they emailed me with the message, “I’m happy to tell you that you’re our guy!”, and booked their wedding.
Before we get into the details, here’s a fun compilation video of some of the dance floor fun we had that night.

The majority of the photos below were taken by Luis Godinez Photography, the rest by yours truly. He didn’t watermark them, but I’m sure you’ll be able to tell which are his as they are wonderful!
The Ultimate Skybox at Diamondview Tower is a beautiful venue that overlooked downtown San Diego as well as provides a perfect view right into Petco Park.
Did I mention that view into Petco Park? This was taken with my iPhone while standing behind my turntables.
For cocktail hour, Enrique and Seidy had me do a live turntable-based mix set of jazz and funk with hip-hop origins. For a sample of this, click here and check out my Hip-Hop Origins Mix at http://www.mixcloud.com/DJDennisJ/dj-dennis-j-hip-hop-origins-quickmix. If clients wish, I do this live for their guests during cocktail hour.
Enrique and Seidy ordered uplights, video montage and a monogram package. The uplights you will be able to see in later photos. We worked together to design a great looking monogram, which was projected onto the wall right above the entrance to the room.
They also wanted a special effect done in the cocktail patio area using the venue’s textured glass wall and my H20 (water) texture light. I took a brief video of it to demonstrate the effect.
Wedding Video Montage
For their wedding video montage, we were able to feed into the TVs in the room and display the video in a way where guests could see it well from multiple vantage points. One was right above my DJ table.
First we introduced the parents.
After that, the ring bearers came out and showed everyone their skills shuffling…
Then we introduced the bridesmaids and groomsmen altogether as a group…
And then of course, the bride and groom!

Wedding Dancing I
The uplighting, matched to their exact shade of blue, really made the cake cutting photo stand out.
As you’ll see in the review at the end of this blog, I actually got a huge BOOoooo when we stopped to do the Bouquet Toss. Guests were having a blast on the dance floor and didn’t want to stop!
Being sports fans, Enrique sweetened the deal with the garter toss. Once he retrieved the garter, he wrapped it around a nerf football along with a $20 bill. As you can see from the photos, everyone wanted to catch that garter!
Wedding Dancing II
Enrique and Seidy were happy to pose with me after their reception for my signature post-event photo.
Here’s the review of me, posted by Seidy (as Empress L., I’m not even going to try guess the reasoning on that one!) on Yelp.com. Thanks, Seidy (and Enrique)!
We just had Dennis Dj our wedding this past weekend. Let me just say that he is truly a great DJ. When we first met with him we knew that we had to have him as our DJ. Since we booked him he kept in contact with us communicating every detail he needed to give us the wedding of our dreams. We told him our ideas and he was great about giving his honest opinion and recommendations to perfect every detail of our music throughout the night.
Our crowd loved the DJ I can’t remember a time when the dance floor was empty. At one point Dennis had to cut the music so we can do the garter toss and the crowd actually booo’d because the wanted to continue dancing. I can’t say enough great things about Dennis. I would definitely recommend him to anybody that is looking for a dependable, honest, and talented DJ. We used his uplighting, monogram and slideshow service. Five stars all the way around!!!!!
Thank you Dennis!!!
