San Diego DJ Dennis “Dennis J” Jones, Vice-President of the local American Disc Jockey Association (ADJA) and owner of The Creative Music DJ, has been entertaining crowds since 1987. His unique blend of club style mixing (whether for a wedding, corporate party, or actual club event) have helped to land him on the forefront of event industry professionals who dare to stretch the boundaries outside of the ‘typical reception’. From live first dance remixes to customized professional lighting, video montages, and wedding monograms, Dennis is the choice for clients that range from those that just want to make sure their DJ can smoothly handle their event and play great music, to those that want to incorporate ‘out of the box’ ideas and need someone with the creativity, consultation knowledge, and skill to pull it off successfully.
In addition to mic and turntable skills, Dennis has formal education as well! In the early 90′s he took time off from DJing to pursue a formal education, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, and an MBA with an emphasis in Project Management. Dennis is also involved with numerous industry groups. Along with his current position as Vice-President of the San Diego chapter of the ADJA, he is also a member of the San Diego Disc Jockey Association and currently working with fundraiser board members from American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life (ACS) to give performances at their annual charity events.
Dennis’ passion for entertaining keeps his focus on DJing, and he has stated that he will forge on as long as he continues to derive a great deal of satisfaction from being part of the meaningful events he performs at. “Most events I perform at are once-in-a-lifetime events, which is why it’s so important that I do business the right way,” Dennis says. “Whether it’s the union of two happy couples at a wedding or a birthday party for an excited 16-year-old boy or girl, for the host it is extremely emotional. I like to think that I’m continuously raising the bar for DJs in the wedding, party, and corporate event industry. My clients deserve to have the highest expectations of me, and I’ve earned my reputation by exceeding those expectations and always delivering on my promises.”
Dennis maintains healthy relations with fellow DJs and artists. He is highly respected by the local event industry, but also gets a good deal of respect from club disc jockeys because of his popular online mixes, vast knowledge of music, and ability to ‘hang on their level’ when it comes to turntable platter control.
