The Creative Music DJ Equipment Setup for a Military Ball
Paul Quigg, a Marine stationed in San Diego in the Wounded Warrior Battallion-West, contracted us to perform at their annual Military Ball. We provided music for their cocktail hour, dinner, and open dancing.

Marine Corp Ball Cocktail Hour
For those that do not know, the Marine Corp Ball is also the Marine Corp birthday celebration. To symbolize this, they have a ceremony and then a ‘cutting of the birthday cake’ ritual. The cool thing is that they bring the cake out with a lot of fanfare and then cut it with a SWORD! Yes, a sword. There’s not many cooler ways to cut cake, right? I mean, maybe a laser cutter, or a circular saw, but other than those, a SWORD pretty much tops the cake (pun intended).

The gig was a lot of fun. It was a six-hour event, with cocktail hour and dinner, like all military balls we’ve had the pleasure of being a part of. For a few video snippets and highlights see the video below. To hire us for your military ball, please visit our check availability page.

For those that don’t know. There’s a new record label in town. They go by the name of Madd Records, originally from New Orleans. Due to the recent mishaps in New Orleans, they’re now located here in San Diego. They’ve even started hosting a “hot or not” session on Wednesday nights, where artists perform in front of peers as well as a panel of judges, and after their performance they’re given reviews by each judge, “American Idol”-style.
I met with the Kurt, the President of Madd Records, to discuss business opportunities and check out one of his promising new artists, Mask. Initial impressions were good. We seemed to vibe well together, and seemed comfortable with each other. Mask definitely has skills, and with Kurt backing him up on vocals I think this duo has a possibility to make it big.
Madd Records is looking for a DJ to book for San Diego club and party events, and I’m going to be in further discussions with them to see if there’s a fit between us. In the meantime, we’ve got an agreement to work on a mixtape together. He’s got one song in particular which I was really feelin’, and I plan to drop it into one of my next few mixtapes and see where it goes.
For now, check out Mask on his Myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/mask101. This artist can flow, trust me. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll see me representing Madd Records soon at a venue near you.
