This weekend we had the privilege to be a part of the wedding reception of a wonderful couple named Chelsa and Christian Mickelsen. A non-traditional couple, they actually started their wedding on-time, and were ready and raring to go at the reception venue (Candelas On the Bay, Coronado) almost a half-hour early!

After a nice cocktail hour, toasts were given, and per his request the groom was given the mic and gave some words of thanks and appreciation to his guests.

After the toasts were finished, desert was served while Tiamo, a friend of the family, entertained the guests by singing three original songs while playing his acoustic guitar. At this time I do not have contact information for him, but he seemed very talented and I would happy to refer people to him if he’d like.

Being quick to dispense with formalities, the groom next requested cutting of the cake. The cake was cut and while the staff of Candelas proceeded to cut it up and get it ready to serve, the first dance began.

After a wonderful first dance, the crowd was moved into a ‘family dance’ with Dean Martin’s “That’s Amoré”.

And that, my friends, was the end of formal events. In the words of the groom himself, “once we get started dancing, I think it ruins the vibe to have to stop!”
